If you are like me and you do ongoing research on how to make money online, you know that any website has the opportunity to work. If you want to start a website from scratch, you should take the appropriate time to research the proper niche to get into. It is much easier making money with a site about Golf Shoes than it is about golf in general. Here are some tips on how to go about picking the right niche for your website.

Know What’s Hot

This form of research is for those who want to start a new website with a product or service that is popular. When I look for hot topics, I generally go to 3 places: Ebay Pulse shows you where what people are searching for on Ebay. With this information you ca create a mini site on what’s hot. Another avenue is Amazon where they have a section that lists their most popular categories for products.

Always Dig Deeper

Once you find the top level topic that you are interested in, consider digging much deeper when find the specific topic for your website. The Golf example above is an idea of how to go deeper. Another example would be creating a site about Dogs, you can go deeper by creating a site specifically about Dog Training. Better yet, you can go deeper than that and create a site catering to a type of training method.

Start With Longtail
When researching the types of articles to write about, always go for the longtail keywords for your topic. There is much less competition for those ranking and you can get a good amount of traffic if you choose the right ones. The last 3 websites I’ve personally started I used the method and am making money with them to this day.

Rinse and Repeat

Making money online with content sites is a hit or miss affair. As soon as you developed the site, have content on it and built up links don’t hesitate in starting another site.
